Senior Editor, Women’s Group

Reports to:

Executive Editor, Women’s Group


Primary Purpose:

In this senior-level role, you will work closely with and under the direction of the managing and executive editors to pitch, produce, edit, and commission high-quality, engaging, shareable content for and You should be obsessed with all things women’s lifestyle and health and wellness, and able to create content quickly, experiment with lots of different formats, and analyze the results of your work.



  • Pitching and writing high-quality, on-brand stories of varying formats and lengths each day
  • Finding trends and studies, conducting interviews, and maintaining relationships with sources
  • Sourcing, creating, and editing images for on-site and social media using Photoshop
  • Editing web editors’ stories for accuracy, voice, style, and grammar
  • Understanding, monitoring, and acting on insights gathered from key traffic and engagement metrics
  • Adhering to SEO best practices for all content created


Typical Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have worked in the digital media industry for a minimum of five years
  • Follow the news and trends that appeal to middle-aged women and be naturally keen to know what people are talking about online
  • Be a creative thinker who is always ready to share new ideas
  • Be flexible and able to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Have advanced writing and editing skills, especially when it comes to voice and fact-checking
  • Have experience doing original reporting and research
  • Have intermediate to advanced photo research and editing skills
  • Have a strong understanding of current (and ever-changing) social media and SEO best practices
  • Have experience using analytics tools to inform content strategy
  • Be highly organized
  • Be both a team-player and a self-starter


Also desirable:

  • Have some experience managing other editors
  • Have some experience covering health studies and trends
  • Have some experience pitching, creating, and editing video for social media
  • Have a roster of freelance writers who can be recruited to write for the sites
  • Have a roster of experts and sources who can be contacted for stories
